A year ago, Lyon was elected European Capital of Smart Tourism 2019 alongside the City of Helsinki by the European Union. Beyond recognition, this title has allowed Lyon to go further in its CSR approach. At the same time, Lyon joined the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS), working collectively with business tourism professionals to continually improve our performance in terms of sustainable development.
Lyon St Exupéry airport has been carbon-neutral since 2017 and the Lyon Convention Centre has obtained the ISO 20121 certification end of 2019, the international standard for sustainable event management that promotes responsible consumption and offers guidelines to curb the social, environmental and economic impact of events.
